No, the missing money the government “stole” out of my bank account has not returned yet but it is in the process.
It is always amazing how fast it is they will take it but not always to fast to give it out.
Do you think they will give me back the substantial bank withdrawl charge???
I spent the weekend just letting it go. I had no answers and I could only speculate.
Monday morning my accountant managed to begin the process of unfreezing my account that had been locked up for the next year - yes the standard year until the monies are paid back. So that was taken care of ….but what really happened?
How did this happen with no notification?
Well turns out the tax return for 2005 - yes ancient history in my mind - was filed but the expense schedule was missing. So at some point they notified my accountant who in turn sent the schedule again.
Assuming all was well and no notices to anyone…the malfunctioning system showed my account in arrears and they did the duck and grab and now that for the third time they have my expense schedule for 2005 - the monies are in process back to my bank account…when …? soon I am told.
So where in lies the glich?
From my understanding …computers go down…departments are segregated and pretty much the whole tax dept is pretty confused.
My deduction from this experience….( no pun intended)
Take my own tax return by my own hand to the Post Outlet and pay the few bucks to double register the envelope so I have proof it arrived - complete.
Oh yah - did you hear - not long ago 5 bags of mail destined for CRS were found in a corner of a main postal station….. well at least I would have my receipt…..
